March Events in NOLA

Although Mardi Gras has ended, the March festivities have just begun. Check out how to spring into the new season with these fun weekday and weekend activities. 

 

THURSDAY, MARCH 5

Let’s Write Workshop — Take part in an evening of writing with other like-minded creatives. This workshop provides a safe space for people to explore their ideas and stories and bring them to life with pen and paper. (PJ’s Coffee // 6-7:30 p.m. // FREE)

A Way We Go — A 20-minute dance performance done by Rhia Jade and Ryûta Iwashit, two Asian-heritage, non-binary dancers who enjoy the art of dancing and creating together. Although the performance is free, a donation is highly recommended. (Antenna // 7 p.m. & 8:30 p.m. // FREE

The Art and Science of Pickling — Join Chef Myisha for this two-hour, three course meal, hands on experience that will give you the inside scoop on how to properly ferment and pickle four different items. (Downtown New Orleans // 6 p.m. // $95)

Cardio Blast — Blow off some steam with this cardio class hosted by Milne Recreation Center. This class will incorporate movements of stretching, meditation, strength training and of course, cardio. (Milne Recreation Center // 11 a.m. – Noon // FREE)

Cajun Brunch at The Tigermen Den — Take your Sunday brunch to the next level at Tigermen Den with live music, dance lessons for beginner and intermediate levels and delicious favorites from Bywater Bakery. (The Tigermen Den // 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. // $10)

 

SUNDAY, MARCH 8

A Taste of Vietnam Vacation & Parrillada — Enjoy a feast of various meats and veggies from Woodfire Cook Mark C. Stevens and his Argentinen Parrillada cooking techniques. A portion of the proceeds will be contributed toward Hogs For The Cause, a non-profit that focuses on families battling with pediatric brain cancer. (Mark’s Gentilly Compound // 4-8 p.m. // $65)

CFY presents Louis Katz — With numerous television appearances such as Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, HBO’s Down and Dirty with Jim Norton and more, international comedian Louis Katz brings his comedic storytelling to New Orleans for a night of laughter and creativity. Intro into Tapestry Weaving — This hands on workshop will give guests the opportunity to learn the basics of tapestry weaving. After learning how to plain weave, warp a frame loom and create patterns and shapes, you have the opportunity to purchase the loom for $35.
