Well, well, what do you know, it’s Weekly Wins Wednesday! This week is Pride, so there are plenty of parties in which to partake, including our NOLA Fray Pool Party at the Drifter Hotel. We’ll see you at the cabana!

Wednesday, June 5

Global Run Day, Start/ Finish at Manning’s, 5:45 pm

Join some of the city’s favorite running groups as they team up to bring you a free event to “celebrate the love we have for moving with each other.” This run is open to everyone, whether you’re a “mile-maker, couch to 5K-er, or a run once-in-a-blue-moon-er,” and you can run or walk. Arrive early to create your own bib, then hang around after for free beer and apps.

Thursday, June 6

Free Soccer Open Play, Lyon’s Recreational Center, 7:00 pm

Whether you’ve been playing soccer for years or haven’t played since you were younger, come join the NOLA Fray crew for pick up! Bring a light and a dark shirt, a water bottle, and athletic shoes (cleats are recommended). Shin guards not required. We’ll provide all the soccer equipment. (RSVP here)

The Margarita Mix-Off, Wrong Iron on the Greenway, 6:00- 8:00 pm

Who makes the best Margarita in New Orleans? You be the judge as you try all sorts of Tres Agaves and Cointreau margarita creations by mixologists from haunts across the city. Arriba! Abajo! Al Centro!

KMEZ 102.9 Blues Bash, New Orleans Jazz Market, 7:00 pm

Join KMEZ for a special concert celebration to kick off Black Music Month.  Featuring Cupid, Vick Allen, Willie Clayton, and Till 1, you’re in for some great music and a great time.

New Orleans Pride, Various Locations, Friday- Sunday

With more than 30 events happening across the city, including dance parties, concerts, and even a ball, Pride is a three-day Eleganza Extravaganza you don’t want to miss! Everyone is invited to join in and wave a rainbow flag; after all, love is love is love.

CrimeCon 2019, Hilton Riverside, Friday- Sunday

Do you find yourself watching Forensic Files or Dateline late at night, convinced you’ve got the key to solving the mystery? This con is for you! FrayLife Pool Party, The Drifter Hotel, 7:00 pm

You heard that right, a #FrayLife Pool Party with DJ and 2 drinks included, a combination for kings and queens (aka you). Join your NOLA Fray Fam for a Friday night event like no other. Not only will there be a live DJ ready for song suggestions, but all your favorite Fray games provided. The list doesn’t stop there! This one-of-a-kind experience is at The Drifter. Saturday, June 8

33rd Annual Creole Tomato Festival, French Market, Saturday & Sunday

Creole tomatoes are in-season, so you know what that means; it’s time for a festival! The French Market is hosting two days of live music, cooking demonstrations, booths full of creole tomatoes cooked every way you can possibly imagine, as well as other tasty goodies. For tomatoes with a twist, head to Dutch Alley for the 4th annual Bloody Mary Market!

Bar Crawl X: European Vacation, Mid City, 3:00- 11:00 pm

Join everyone’s favorite dance krewe, the 610 Stompers, and dance your way through Mid City at their 10th annual bar crawl. Learn some of their signature dance moves, then shimmy and shake your way from Wrong Iron to Blue Oak BBQ and Deutsches Haus. There will be food, prizes, and of course drinks aplenty with the baddest dancing dudes in town. Registration available online.

New Orleans Pride Parade, French Quarter, 7:30 pm

Here in New Orleans, it’s not a party without a parade! Don your gayest apparel and head to the Quarter to join in the revelry at the largest LGBTQ+ Parade on the Gulf Coast. Over 60 groups will march alongside 24 Mardi Gras style floats, led by Grand Marshals and Titleholders including the Queen Diva herself, Big Freedia, and Project Runway’s Mondo Guerra.

 

Sunday, June 9

Beach Goth Party, Broad Street Cider, 3:00- 8:00 pm

Beat the heat and stay “dead cool” with some Planchette cocktails and local cider as you enjoy a “beach goth bazaar” with vendors selling a bit of everything, all with a macabre twist. Milkfish will provide Filipino food and “beachy goth” music will keep you feeling happy and sad at the same time? Either way, a Hawaiian shirt is always appropriate!

We Love the 80s/ Back in the Day Party, Southport Music Hall, 8:00 pm

Break out the spandex and shoulder pads; it’s time to get preoccupied with 19, 19, 1985! Not only will you be supporting a great cause, No One Fights Alone of New Orleans, but you’ll “hear the best DJ’s from the 80s and 90s New Orleans club scene play the songs you used to jam to Back in the Day.” Radical!

 

Monday, June 10

A Sunset Soiree Rooftop Yoga & Pilates, The Roosevelt New Orleans, 6:30 pm

Enjoy a healthy happy hour brought to you by Footprints to Fitness at the Roosevelt’s rooftop pool bar and cabana. Get a sunset view like no other while you enjoy a “kickass workout, cocktails, and food.” Your ticket gets you hip-hop inspired yoga, pilates, and barre fusion class, as well as a free drink, access to the rooftop pool, and some swag. Tuesday, June 11

Haircuts and Karaoke, St. Roch Tavern, 8:00 pm

Because when you get a great new ‘do, it makes you want to sing! “All types, styles, and humans are welcome,” and a $15 cut gets you a free PBR, which might get you in the mood to try a little karaoke yourself.

Tango Tuesday, Victory Bar, 7:00 pm

Have you always felt like you belong dancing on the streets of Buenos Aires? It’s your lucky day! Tango Tuesday is back with a lesson at 7:00 pm and dancing starting at 8:00 pm. The $10 door fee includes $5 towards food or drink, so you’re getting a great deal, and some great dancing!
